Karachi, June 25, 2015 (PPI-OT): TDAP has increased its efforts encouraging Pakistani companies to benefit from the new economic realities in Russian Federation. Honorary Consul of Republic of Belarus in Pakistan and Chairman, Pak Russia Business Council of FPCCI met Mr. S. M. Muneer, CE, TDAP and Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha, Secretary TDAP along-with the Senior officers of TDAP.
Mr. S. M. Muneer, CE TDAP, welcomed the honourable guests and shed the light on Pakistan – Russian trade potential. He stated that since August 2014, Russian Federation imposed ban on import of fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, milk and dairy imports from the US, the European Union, Australia, Canada and Norway. Prior to this, Russia has already taken certain measures imposing restrictions or banning food products from Ukraine, Poland, Moldova and Romania.
Mr. S. M. Muneer also informed that Russia is a major importer of food items and importing US$15.8 billion worth of food and agriculture products from EU only, while Russia’s total import worth US$ 323 billion globally. The Russian ban on import of agriculture products from western countries has provided Pakistan’s food and agriculture products exporters a window of opportunity to increase export of these products to Russia.
Keeping in view the present scenario in Russian Federation, TDAP has increased its efforts encouraging Pakistani companies to benefit from the new economic realities in Russian Federation especially the volume of agricultural products like fruit, vegetable and meat can be increased considerably as Russia is consciously striving to replace its food imports from the EU countries. In order to achieve optimal gain offered by the situation and the directive of the Finance Minister Mr. Ishaq Dar, TDAP is organizing a 15 member’s high level trade delegation of Pakistan Agro Food producer to Russian Federation led by the Mr. S. M. Muneer, CE TDAP.
Mr. S. M. Muneer, has also highlighted that TDAP is organizing Pakistan Pavilion in the international exhibition of food products “World Food Moscow” being held in Moscow, Russia from September 14-17, 2015 in which twelve (12) leading and potential Pakistani companies of Rice, processing food, fruits, vegetables, meat and fish are exhibiting under the umbrella of TDAP.
Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha, Secretary TDAP highlighted that the real issues of declining of export of Pakistani food products to Russian Federation are registration of Pakistan exporters for meat, poultry, sea food, dairy products etc with Russian Phytosanitary and Veterinary Services. In order to educate Pakistani exporter and enable them to register with Russian concerned authority, TDAP is also inviting experts of the Russian Certification Group to Pakistan.
Mr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, Chairman, Pakistan Russia Business Council gave the detailed presentation on “Doing Business with Russia”. Mr. Abdul Rauf Tabani, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus emphasized on the exchange of delegation between both the countries and posting of Commercial Counsellor in Embassy of Pakistan, Moscow.
