Tokyo, January 15, 2015 (PPI-OT): Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Thursday invited Japanese investors and businessmen to take advantage of the growing demand for halal food and invest in Pakistan in this sphere. He was expressing his views at the Halal Food Initiative Seminar organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo. The Seminar was attended by a large number of Japanese businessmen and entrepreneurs.
Finance Minister informed the Seminar participants that 30 percent of world’s population consumed only halal food and research had proved that halal food was scientifically healthy. He stated that Pakistan was located at the crossroads of Middle East, Central Asia and East Asia, thereby providing excellent opportunities for exporting halal food products to different regions of the world.
He invited Japanese companies and entrepreneurs to invest in halal food industry in Pakistan. This way, he added, they would not only export their products to Japan but also to countries in the Middle East and central Asia.
He informed the participants that due to availability of labour at economical rates, the cost of production would be lower in Pakistan. He assured them that if they set up their industry in Pakistan they would be provided full assistance by the Board of Investment besides enjoying Government of Pakistan’s other incentives.
These, he said, included full freedom to repatriate profits and gains out of Pakistan without any conditions. In the end, he complimented the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo for the initiative and assured of government’s full support in its future endeavours. Chairman Board of Investment, Ambassador of Pakistan in Tokyo and other officials were present on the occasion.
