Islamabad, November 30, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that both the province and FATA offer tremendous opportunities for investment in every sector of economy, with promising prospects for further development and flourishment of businesses and the Chinese investors will also be welcomed to launch entrepreneurships.
Talking to the visiting President of Chinese Investment Corporation, Mr. Gao Xiqing who accompanied by a seven member delegation of Chinese investors called on him at Governor’s House, Nathiagali; a famous tourism resort of the country on Friday, the Governor also highly appreciated the enthusiastic approach of the distinguished guests and stressed the need to develop working mechanism in shape of coordination groups to ensure materialization of the proposals.
A delegation of leading industrialists from the province and FATA, led by the President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Dr. Muhammad Yousaf Sarwar also participated the meeting which also comprised of a former President of the Chamber, Mr. Afan Aziz, Mr. Amer Farooq Khan, Mr. Raza Quli Khan and Mr. Khalid Quli Khan.
Prospects for hydro power generation, exploration, processing and development of minerals wealth including oil and promotion of automobile industries were the focal points of discussion. Additional Chief Secretary, FATA, Dr. Tashfin Khan and the Chairman, Sarhad Development, Authority, Mr. Waqar Ayub were also present on this occasion and briefed the delegates in this respect.
Barrister Masood Kausar appreciated the keen interest of investors from both sides and said that their spirit of cooperation reflects their sincere approach towards their common interests and assured that every possible support and cooperation for ensuring smooth flow on workable proposals will be extended to them. Beyond doubt, he added, like elsewhere in Pakistan, the people of the province and FATA, both in their official and private capacities are always excited to avail opportunities from their Chinese brethren for promotion of economic activities in their respective areas.
The President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Muhammad Yousaf Sarwar and his colleagues while welcoming the distinguished guests also highlighted their experiences especially stressed launching launching joint investment in hydel power generation, mineral development and promotion of automobile sectors.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tashfin Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, FATA and Mr. Waqar Ayub, Chairman, Sarhad Development Authority while briefing the participants about prospects for launching entrepreneurships said that in the back drop of severe shortage of electricity, both the province and FATA offer tremendous opportunities for hydel power generation. Feasibility studies in respect of a number of projects, it was added, are readily available and the government is also ready to facilitate investors to the maximum possible extent. Same is the case in respect of industrial and mineral sectors and the province with 17 major industrial estates including an export processing zone at Risalpur, besides a marble village in FATA also offers required standards of infrastructure facilities for ,launching new entrepreneurships.
