Islamabad, November 16, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Islamabad Stock Exchange Limited (ISE) in collaboration with The Diabetes Centre (TDC) held an awareness seminar on Diabetes in ISE Auditorium. The Director of TDC, Dr. Imran Mirza gave a detailed presentation on symptoms, causes and measures of prevention from diabetes.
He informed the participants that the Pakistan ranks 7th in the world in diabetic population and about 89,000 Pakistani die each year due to this disease. About TDC, Dr. Imran Mirza informed that Capital will soon have its first leading-edge, non-profit medical facility providing special care to diabetic patients on a non-profit basis.
The facility is an initiative of educated overseas Pakistanis, from UAE, UK and other countries. He said that a piece of land on Murree-Islamabad Expressway has been acquired for this purpose to lay the foundations of this facility.
Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, CEO Blackstone Equities also spoke on the occasion. He said that the diabetes was very dangerous disease which was causing different mal-functionalities in the human body. He urged for timely and regular treatment of the disease.
Mian Ayyaz Afzal, Managing Director/CEO of ISE said that the role of health in formation of human capital was very vital. Unless a population was healthy enough to work and earn, the society would remain backward. Only strong and healthy people can struggle and survive and can take the nation forward, he added.
The MD ISE stated that keeping in view its corporate social responsibility, the ISE organized this event to create awareness among its stakeholders about the diabetes. He appreciated the efforts of the TDC for creating awareness among the general public and assured ISE’s full cooperation to TDC for its such activities in future as well.
