Lahore, November 30, 2012 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) Friday termed the LHC decision a milestone for the economic revival of the country.
In a statement issued here, the PIAF Chairman Engineer Sohail Lashari said that the government should immediately start work on this mega project of national importance in the light of recommendations of the Council of Common Interests.
Engineer Sohail Lashari said that the WAPDA had already made it clear that the reservations about the Kalabagh dam are baseless and had no relation to the factual position of this project.
The PIAF Chairman said that an acute shortage of electricity had already played havoc with the country as the industrial closures and massive lay-offs are order of the day while the unemployment graph is going up with every passing day.
He said that early construction of Kalabagh Dam would not only ensure much cherished economic revival but would also help save billions of dollars foreign exchange being spent on import of oil.
The PIAF Chairman said that the other provinces should also support this decision as a number of experts had already warned of severe water shortage in the country in near future.
He said that the technical study undertaken in the year 2004 by the representatives of the four provinces had already endorsed the feasibility of the project therefore the federal government should not delay it any further. It would also be giving much respect to the government as Kalabagh Dam would help bring an end to the loadshedding also.
The PIAF Chairman also urged all the political parties to play their role for the early completion of this project.
