Karachi, March 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): Punjab government on Friday awarded Gold Medal to the Chairman Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) S M Tanvir for his meritorious services towards to promotion and growth of industry in the province.
Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif gave away the Gold Medal to S M Tanvir at a ceremony at Johar Town Sports Complex.
The Chief Minister paid rich tributes to the Chairman PIEDMC for his sagacity in running the affairs of the Industrial estates in the province that helped a lot in creation of new industrial estates and thousands of new jobs therein.
The Chairman PIEDMC thanked the Chief Minister for giving him honor and said that during his three year tenure dollar 350 million new investments came into Pakistan, while 80 thousand people were provided with jobs.
He said that there were on 50 industrial units in the Sundar Industrial Estate when he took charge while today as many as 236 industrial units are operative and 30 more would start their operations in next few weeks. He said that the assets of the company have crossed the staggering figure of Rs 15 billion.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan said that three years ago when PIEDMC charge was given to S M Tanvir its financial position was very bad but today it is one of the vibrant companies working under Punjab government as Public Private Partnership entity.
Meanwhile Patron In-Chief, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, S M Muneer, Chairman Mohammad Zubair Chhaya, President All Karachi Industrial Alliance, Mian Zahid Hussain and Vice Chairmen, Najmul Arfeen and Niaz Ahmd have congratulated S M Tanvir on receiving award from Punjab government on his meritorious services for the promotion of industry.
