Lahore, December 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): Dr. Shehla Javed Akram, Founder Member of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Lahore and former Vice President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has applauded the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) for helping women-owned SMEs to play active role in economic development of the country.
While commenting on establishment of an SME Pavilion at recent SAARC Trade Fair and WEXNET, she said the support provided by SMEDA had encouraged new business-women to enter into the export market. She said that other government organizations related with business development should also come forward to support new women entrepreneurs for participation in the national and international trade fairs.
She observed that participation in the exhibitions like WEXNET and SAARC Trade Fair become a great source of learning international trends and patterns of business in marketing perspective. She said that during her round to SME pavilion, the women stall holders had recorded their acknowledgment for SMEDA assistance in providing the logistic support and on-the-spot patronage, without which they could not step out to display their products in such an important Expo in Lahore.
Dr. Shehla Javed Akram was guest of the day, on last day of the 12th SAARC Trade Fair and 9th WEXNET-2015, at SME Pavilion set up by SMEDA. Dr. Shehla Javed Akram has urged upon the skilled women to avail of the assistance of TDAP and SMEDA for direct marketing of their products by participating in the trade fairs and exhibitions. She said that the working ladies and new women entrepreneurs should never miss the chance of attending such events so as to keep themselves abreast with the changing designs as well as new trends of display and marketing techniques of women’s products.
Meanwhile, Mr. Rehmatullah Javed, National Expert on SMEs, Skill Development and SAARC Trade has also hailed TDAP and SMEDA to play respective roles in women business development. CEO SMEDA Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, in a statement, has assured of continuing support for promoting the cause of women entrepreneurship, which is on top agenda of the present government for economic empowerment of women. He told that SMEDA was successful to attract a new lot of women entrepreneurs outside Lahore; from Peshawar and Haripur towards SAARC Trade Fair and Wexnet concluded at Lahore Expo Centre on Sunday.
