Lahore, June 26, 2018 (PPI-OT): The potential and natural resources of Baluchistan needs to be explored and exploited by the private sector and there is a need of public and private sector partnership. This was stated by the Chief Minister Baluchistan Mr. Alauddin Marri in his interactive session with the members of FPCCI at Federation House. He further stated that the increasing economic activities of CPEC will bring revolution in Baluchistan particularly in terms of investment and joint ventures.
He further went on saying about the significance of CPEC including Gwadar port. He also highlighted the administrative technicalities of general election – 2018 the Baluchistan is 40% of Pakistan in context of area, having serious challenges to conduct general election keeping security threats in addition. Therefore, public and business community support is mandatory. Chief Minister Baluchistan also shared the scope of investment in minerals and port related options are leading business opportunities.
He also appreciated the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry for its positive role in the economic and social development of Pakistan. Earlier the President FPCCI Mr. Ghazanfar Bilour welcoming the Chief Minister Baluchistan highlighted the economic activities being planned by FPCCI particularly at Gwadar. He said that Baluchistan and KPK have seen hard time in war against terrorism. Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir explained the importance of Baluchistan in economic development of Pakistan. He shred the mineral and CPEC scope in Baluchistan for the economic progress.
He also explained socio-economic dynamics of Baluchistan can be transformed into sustainable progress using effective business model especially small and medium enterprises Tariq Haleem, Vice-President FPCCI highlighted the ambiguity in FBR rules like sales tax i.e. 17% at Gwadar –free zone which has been delayed the foreign investment of $ 2 billion. He urged the requirement of necessary amendment/exemption in Serial 100 A of 6th schedule of Sales tax. He also stated that Custom Weboc system at Gwadar is not yet commenced resulting in delay of the economic activities.
