Karachi, August 02, 2016 (PPI-OT):While appreciating measures taken by the Indonesian government to promote bilateral trade, Sr. Vice President the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) S. Khalid Tawab on Tuesday said FPCCI will play its role to boost trade volume and cooperation in different sectors with Indonesia.
“Exchange of trade delegations will create more opportunities for investment between both the countries,” he said during a meeting with Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Mr. Hadi Santoso at Federation House in Karachi. Business community of FPCCI and other officials were also present on this occasion. Khalid Tawab said natural resources enriched Pakistan had a bright future with tremendous opportunities for investment.
Hadi Santoso said trade volume between Pakistan and Indonesia had increased by over 300 percent in the last five years and steps were being taken to increase this volume further. He said the volume of bilateral trade in 2010 was US$700 million, which has crossed US$2.3 billion in 2016. The consul general of Indonesia said Indonesia has had exemplary diplomatic and political ties with Pakistan.
Role of FPCCI has a great significance in promotion of the bilateral trade relations. “The Indonesian government is eager to provide maximum facilities to Pakistani businessmen for investment to increase the bilateral trade and harmony,” he said. He said Indonesia also aspired to fortify cooperation with Pakistan in the sectors of tourism, education, culture and science and technology.
