Lahore, December 04, 2017 (PPI-OT):Chairman/Founder of LPG Industries Association of Pakistan (LPG Chamber of Pakistan) and Chairman LPG Distributors Association Pakistan, Mr. Irfan Khokhar along with Chairman Awami Rickshaw Union Majeed Ghori said in a joint press conference that ECC and Govt. of Pakistan have signed the approval of financial murder of poor LPG consumers and rickshaw drivers. LPG Distributors to go at strike against this price hike on 10 January, 2018.
Irfan told; Govt. LPG Company SSGC succeeded to increase LGP Consumer price after which LPG Mafia succeeded to fail the Govt. 4 year efforts. He said “Levy Tax on locally produced LPG was supposed to end the difference between LPG Price between local and imported LPG resulting low LPG Consumer Prices. After implementation of Regulatory Duty on LPG import, LPG users would have to buy locally produced LPG at imported rates as well, poor consumers and poor rickshaw drivers are suffering a lot.
Irfan Khokhar told about the daily 4500MT consumption of LPG in winters out of which 2500MT is being provided by imported LPG. 30 LPG Marketing Companies have local LPG quota while 114 out of 144 LPG Marketing Companies are totally depending on LPG import. He said; in 2014 62117MT LPG was imported to meet the consumption demand of 502232MT which increased to 245578MT in 2015 to fill the annual demand of 875087MT, in 2016 to fill the annual demand of 1164706MT, 513788MT was imported and in 9 months of 2017 331830MT have already been imported to meet the consumption of 852547MT.
Regulatory Duty on LPG will demolish LPG Industry in Pakistan which will result in high LPG Consumer Price of Rs. 300/kg. LPG Policy from Ministry for Petroleum to provide poor consumers with Rs. 895 have failed miserably. Irfan Khokhar demand from Govt. of Pakistan to take notice and strict actions to end this Regulatory Duty on LPG import so that poor consumers and poor rickshaw drivers can get economic LPG otherwise LPG distributors along with other LPG associations will start Campaign against price hike on 10 Dec, 2017 in front of Press Club Lahore after which LPG Distributors and LPG Rickshaw drivers will gather at Wahdat Road, Iqbal Town on 13 Dec, 2017 following a gathering at Kalma Chowk, Lahore on 17 Dec, 2017.
After that, an LPG Seminar Lahore will occur on 24 Dec, 2017 accompanying a walk form Liberty Chowk to Jail Road on 31st Dec, 2017 hence the final strike all over Pakistan on 10th January, 2018. Irfan Khohar also demanded from Cantt Magistrate Shehzad Qureshi, Cantt Assistant Commissioner Shamsher Iqbal and Land Officer Zahid Shah to stop unethical operation against LPG Distributors in Cantt. Lahore because this behaviour will not be tolerated by LPG Distributors.
