Dominic Thiem of Austria and Denis Shapovalov of Canada have qualified for the semi-finals of Madrid Masters Tennis Tournament while world number one Rafael Nadal crashed out of the tournament.
Thiem defeated Nadal in the quarter-finals by 7-5 6-3.
Nadal had set a record of winning 50 consecutive sets on a single surface by beating argentine Diego Schwartzman on Thursday.
Meanwhile in others quarter finals, Denis Shapovalov beat Kyle Edmund of great Britain by 7-5, 6-7 and 6-4.
In the third quarter final, South Africa Kevin Anderson defeated Dusan Lajovic of Serbia by 7-6, 3-6 and 6-3 while second seed Alexander Zverev of Germany outclassed john Isner of USA 6-4 and 7-5.
