Trump appoints McMaster as national security adviser

Washington (IINA) � United States President Donald Trump has appointed Lt. Gen. Herbert Raymond McMaster as his new national security adviser, ABC News reported.

Trump spent the weekend considering his options for a replacement for Michael Flynn, who resigned in disgrace after lying to the White House about his conversations with Russia. “He is highly respected by everybody in the military and we’re very honored to have him,” Trump said of Gen. McMaster. “He’s a man of tremendous talent and tremendous experience.”

The national security adviser is an independent aide to the president and does not require confirmation by the US Senate.
