Islamabad, March 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): Mr.Shaban Khalid, the Chairman of Young Entrepreneurs Forum (YEF) of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and Former Senior Vice President of ICCI returned to Pakistan after having a meeting with Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth-2 and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh at the Commonwealth Day Reception which was held at the Marlborough House in London.
This was a momentous occasion for the Commonwealth as the Queen also signed the Charter of the Commonwealth at the occasion. It was especially a proud moment for Pakistan as the Chairman YEF of ICCI was invited for the work as YEF had done to promote the culture of entrepreneurship in not just Pakistan, and through the Commonwealth Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAAYE), the work YEF had done to promote and inculcate the culture of Entrepreneurship with in the eight Asian countries of Commonwealth which include India, Bangladesh, Brunei, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Maldives.
While in London, Mr.Shaban Khalid, Chairman YEF and Former Senior Vice President of ICCI also attended a special session at the House of Lords chaired by Lord McNally, in which ways to advocate a more suitable environment for the enterprise among youth of the Commonwealth member countries were discussed, and ways and means to create more linkages among the youth of the all member countries. Lord Speaker Baroness D’Souza was also present at the occasion.
Chairman YEF also met the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Mr. Sharma. Mr. Sharma especially appreciated the efforts of CAAYE and had expressed an interest to replicate the CAAYE model in other Commonwealth regions.
He had also shared his views on trying to promote the youth of the region and was keen on trying to work on a financial model with commercial banks of the commonwealth countries to create special incentivized schemes for financial assistance to the youth of the countries. He appreciated the work YEF and other CAAYE organizations had done to help advocate the cause of the youth and young entrepreneurs of the region.
Mr.Shaban also had a meeting with the Program Manager at Department for International Development (DFID) to try and create synergies to work together to create more opportunities for promoting new business opportunities and creation of jobs for the youth of Pakistan and other CAAYE countries. Some of the areas of work that were discussed included Financial Inclusion of Youth, Business Innovation Facility, Young Lives Project and the upcoming International Youth Jobs Conference that will be held in London this year.
