Karachi, January 09, 2015 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Commerce Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan visited FPCCI Head Office, Karachi to meet the President FPCCI Mian Muhammad Idrees and said that his visit is the follow up of the discussion of the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif with the President FPCCI.
He congratulated Mian Idrees for being elected President of FPCCI. On this occasion the Chief Executive TDAP S. M. Muneer, the Vice Presidents of FPCCI Muhammad Ikram Rajput, Shahnawaz Ishtiaq, Wasim Vohra were also present along with Mian Zahid, Gulzar Firoz and others.
He further said that FPCCI and the Government will jointly work for the revival of the economy in 2015. He informed that the Prime Minister has already initiated various measures for the development of infrastructure and enhancement of trade and investment in the country.
Mainly two issues are highly focused i.e. shortage of energy and law and order situation and the measures have been taken by the government to address these issues. He said that in the coming few months the results will come. He said that the government will fully support the business community and will provide them level playing field provided that FPCCI should play its due role in the international market.
The Federal Minister for Commerce further said that we believe on public private partnership and business community is our companion on the path of economic development of the country. He further said that the new management of FPCCI will uplift the image of the country abroad and will introduce professionalism in the FPCCI as it is a parent body of all chambers and trade associations.
The President FPCCI Mian Idrees warmly welcomed the Federal Minster for Commerce Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan at Federation House. He said that the visit the Commerce Minister is the source of encouragement and gratitude. He said the business community is the engine of economic progress of the country and their problems should be resolved on priority basis.
He further said the GSP has reflected positively our exports and in order make is more viable the government has established TIC. He assured that if FPCCI will recommend any member the government will induct him in TIC.
The President FPCCI further said that the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has given him task to formulate comprehensive suggestions for the promotion of exports and inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in addition to sector-wise steps to be taken to give a quantum jump to the national economy.
He further said that he has requested the Prime Minister to declare 2015 as ‘Year of Economic Revival’ and FPCCI is working on the modalities of economic revival both for short terms and on long term basis. The Chief Executive TDAP S. M. Muneer said that TDAP is working on the task to enhance exports of Pakistan for which we organize different exhibitions abroad and arrange visit of trade delegations.
He said that Expo Pakistan 2014 is under preparation while our next event Aalishan Pakistan will be extended to other countries Middle East, Europe, South Asia, Africa and America. He expressed his hope that in the mid of this year the government will control over shortage of energy and terrorism.
