Lahore, January 29, 2015 (PPI-OT): There is a vast scope of joint ventures between Pakistan and China in the fields of construction, building material, real estate, steel manufacturing and higher education.
It was observed at the Business Promotion Conference held under aegis of Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) today at FPCCI, which was attended by representatives from various Trade and Investment organizations including Haier Ruba SEZ, PBIT, FPCCI, HBL, UMT, APTMA, CSD, Habib Construction Company and SMEDA. Mr. Shah Faisal Afridi, President PCJCCI delivered address of welcome in honour of the delegation headed by Mr. Wan Guongui, Supervising President Jiangsu Chamber.
Mr. Guongui, in his address, told that Chinese government was determined to translate the historical friendly relations with Pakistan into the economic collaboration. He said that Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce had planned to undertake joint ventures with Pakistan in all possible areas of mutual interest. He specially invited proposals from the local entrepreneurs to evolve joint projects in the fields of construction, real estate, building material, steel industry, construction and higher education.
A series of trade delegations had been scheduled to visit Pakistan for exploring the trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. He urged local trade bodies to enhance coordination and rapport with Jiangsu Chamber for bilateral commercial and industrial collaboration.
Earlier PCJCCI Chief Mr. Shah Faisal Afridi welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude on behalf of PCJCCI for reposing confidence in the business community of Pakistan. Mr. Salahuddin Hanif secretary General PCJCCI hoped that the current visit of Jiangsu Chamber’s delegation would pave way for new joint projects between the two friendly nations. He assured of the continued cooperation of his chamber for concluding joint ventures in the fields of construction and education sector.
He acknowledged that despite prevailing threat of terrorism and energy crisis, the government of Pakistan was successful to attract foreign investors by offering lucrative incentives. The business opportunities emerging because of the liberal investment policy of the government have the vast scope for the friendly nations like China, he said adding that Chinese investors would be welcomed and encouraged both by private and public sector of Pakistan.
He told that due to rapid urbanization and industrialization in Pakistan more people are entering in the country thus more housing schemes to accommodate such people are required. In this context, the visit of Chinese construction companies through Jiangsu Chamber is good omen.
He further said that Pakistan and China’s friendship had entered into new spheres of trade and investment where it was necessary to take concrete measures in order to fill in the communication gap between the two nations and that gap could be fulfilled by extending and sharing educational domains of the two countries. In this regard Mr. Salahuddin Hanif apprised the delegation about PCJCCI efforts for promoting Chinese language through the regular classes at PCJCCI.
Moreover the delegation showed interest in initiating Pak-China Joint MBA Programs, they expressed that such programs should be initiated in renowned universities of both countries that would lead towards the empowerment of youth based on shared expertise and talent of both nations.
The Conference was followed by detailed presentations representatives of APTMA, HBL, PBIT, UMT, Hair Ruba SEZ, CSD, Habib Construction and SMEDA, which despite giving an overview of their services also highlighted the business and investment opportunities existing in the respective areas.
