Karachi, September 27, 2013 (PPI-OT): Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s President Muhammad Haroon Agar has articulated that immense opportunities of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Czech Republic do exist. To this end KCCI and Czech Chamber of Commerce should bring closer the Pakistani and Czech Business Communities to explore to avenues of commercial cooperation and enhance bilateral trade.
Exchanging views with the Czech Business Delegation headed by Jiri Nestaval, President of Czech-Middle Asian Chamber of Commerce (CSOK), he voiced that Pakistan and Czech Republic are two friendly countries; both are striving to promote peace, progress and development in the region and share similar views on many global issues. Both countries leadership and business community have strong desire to develop deep and strong economic and trade ties to benefit for the people of both the friendly countries.
Pakistan has pretty good chances to have joint ventures in Auto Industry, textiles, dairy farming, tourism etc. KCCI and CSOK Chamber of Commerce are two partnering chambers committed to enhance bilateral trade. Both Chambers have also signed MoU. Ex-President KCCI Mian Abrar Ahmad and Past Vice President Mr Zia Ahmed Khan visited Czech Republic last year and participated in the Czech Pakistani Commerce Bridge Conference. Both Chambers are also interested in the formation of Karachi-Prague Joint Chamber of Commerce.
He hoped with sincere efforts this joint chamber will be formed soon. He conversed that Pakistan is rich in mineral, natural and human resources and offers great investment opportunities. It holds high importance because of its geo-strategic location.
Pakistan is bordering neighbour of China, India, Afghanistan, Iran and is gateway to Middle East and Central Asian countries. Global economic power and balance is shifting towards Asia and Pakistan and Czech Republic can play important role to benefit from it as Pakistan is in the heart of Asia while Czech Republic is located in the heart of Europe.
Jiri Nestaval, President of Czech-Middle Asian Chamber of Commerce (CSOK) voiced that joint efforts of KCCI and Czech Middle Asian Chamber of Commerce will bring productive results for enhancement in bilateral trade between two countries. He stated that Czech investors were willing to enter into joint ventures with local investors in the potential areas. He said that KCCI and Czech Chamber had signed MoU and deliberations were in progress to form Karachi-Prague Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He referred that Czech Pakistani Commerce Bridge Conference in Prague launched the commercial exchanges between two countries. With the support of the government of Pakistan, a permanent exhibition/ showcase of Pakistan may be established at Prague, he said.
He opined that the Czech delegation was also exploring the possibilities to export Pakistani products in the Europe and elsewhere. He said that the CSOK Chamber of Commerce entered into an agreement with Russian Halal Food Council and subsequently they want to explore the possibilities of reciprocal trade in Halal Food and its allied products.
Senior Vice President KCCI Shamim Firpo, Vice President Nasir Mehmood and Managing Committee Members also exchanged views. The Czech Delegation accompanied by Mrs. Nabila Faran Baig, Commercial Counsellor of Embassy of Pakistan in the Czech Republic also visited Expo Pakistan and had B2B meetings with KCCI’s members.
