Islamabad, November 15, 2012 (PPI-OT): India International Trade Fair 2012 the annual mega trade event of Republic of India gets underway with the theme “Skilling India” in New Delhi, India. On the annual Children’s day and birthday of Pandit Jawahal lal Nehru H.E. Parnab Mukerjee, President of Republic of India during a very colorful inauguration ceremony inaugurated the event. 6000 exhibitors from 22 countries are participating in this year’s event. FPCCI, which is organizing biggest participation amongst the participating countries at IITF2012 with 176 Pakistani exhibitors who exhibit their commodities in Pakistan Pavilion at Pargati Maidan from 14th to 27th November, 2012.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Mikhail Myasnikovich, Prime Minister of Republic of Belarus, Mr. Anand Sharma, Union Minister for Trade, Commerce and Textile, Ms. Elizabeth Thabethe, Deputy Trade Minister South Africa, Mrs. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister New Delhi, Lt. General Bhupinder Singh, Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Diplomats, senior bureaucrats, High Government officials, Exhibitors, and Trade delegations of different countries visiting India at the time of IITF2012.
FPCCI delegation led by Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani, President and his team consisting of Mr. Shakil Ahmed Dhingra, Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Dawood, Mr. Azhar Majeed Sheikh and Begum Salma Ahmed, Vice Presidents FPCCI on the special invitation of the India Trade Promotion Organization also attended the inauguration ceremony. Republic of Belarus has been given the status of “Partner Country”, Uttarkhand as the “Partner State”, South Africa as the “Focus Country”, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands as the “Focus State” for the said fair.
President of India while addressing the inaugural ceremony said that it was his brain child of holding first ever IITF 32 years back in 1980 when he was the Minister of Commerce. The intended goals set 32 years back are being achieved to some extent today when a Prime Minister of Republic of Belarus visits India alongwith a business delegation specially to attend the IITF.
This is the first ever visit of any Prime Minister to India for IITF, which itself is an achievement and source of inspiration for the participants/exhibitors said the President. He thanked the 22 foreign countries participants for participating in IITF2012 and wished them luck.
Mr. Anand Sharma, the Union Trade, Commerce and Mr. Ms. Rita Memon, Chief of India Trade Promotion Organization also spoke on the occasion.
In Pakistan Pavilion there will be a wide variety of Pakistani Textile and Garments particularly the ladies Garments, which are very popular in India for their quality, design and stitching. The branded textile products of different Pakistani Exhibitors are also on display.
The second most attractive products is spices and recipes which are like a hot cake in IITF. Cosmetic products have also a great attraction, following other items like Khusa, Melamine, ready to Cook Food, Handicrafts, Footwear, Onyx and Marble products, Baby products, etc.
The first 5 days are only for business days and it is expected that Pakistani Companies will obtain good number of export orders during these business days. It is worth mentioning that the Pakistan Pavilion has always been very attractive and visited by large number of visitors.
