Karachi, March 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan and China are committed to take volume of bilateral trade to 15 billion dollar by 2015.China is Pakistan’s largest trading partner; and Pakistan is China’s second largest trading partner in South Asia this was stated by Mr. Tariq Sayeed, Pattern In-Chief Pak-China Business Council, vice President Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce & Industry and former President, FPCCI, SAARC CCI.
While welcoming Mr. Wang Xiaoguang, Deputy Director of Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs Chingdu, and Chinese delegation who visited FPCCI on Tuesday, 5th March,2013, Mr.Tariq Sayeed said that Pakistan and China enjoy an excellent commercial relationship, with the volume of trade standing at US$12 billion.
He further informed that Pakistan-China trade increased by 17.6% to a total of $12.4 billion in 2012. Pakistan’s exports to China increased by 48.2% to $3.14 billion. Imports from China increased by 9.9% to $9.2 billion. The two way trade in 2011 was $10.6 billion.
He added that China has helped the business community of Pakistan by providing maximum facilitation to FPCCI’s participation in various events, such as Kunming and Chengdu Fairs, as well as helping us establish two FPCCI international offices in the cities of Chengdu and Kunming, and a display center in Kunming.
The Chinese delegation under the leadership of Mr. Wang Xiaoguang is visiting Pakistan to introduce 14th Western China International Fair (WCIF) which will be held on 23-27 October 2013.
He also introduced economic and geographical opportunities available in Western China and said that Western China covers a large population of 370 million and rich resources.
Western China contributes 20 percent of China’s national economy with its GDP of 2 trillion dollars. The Western China is the major supplier of raw material and lobour force to the Chinese industry.
He further stated that WCIF is an opportunities for Pakistani exporters to introduce their products. Mr. Wang Xiaoguang also said that Chinese people like Pakistani very much and we want to achieve good results of our historic friendship.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Shakil Ahmed Dhingra, Begum Salam Ahmed Shah Vice Presidents FPCCI and concluded with the presentation of FPCCI crest.
